Tour description
Bondhus - Fonnabu (6-7 h)
On the way from Oslo we stayd at Haukeliseter (staffed DNT-hut). We drived in the morning via Odda to Bondhus (westside of the glacier), where we parked the cars. With skis at the backpack we walked up the idyllic valley, Muradalen and followed the track, Keiserstien. The last part to the cabin, Fonnabu we put the skis on. The altitude difference was about 1200 m from the start. The cabin is situated just some hundreds meters from the glacier and with view to the fjord.
Daytrip to Holmaskjerbu
A day trip from Fonnabu via the highest point at the glacier, Breakulen (1660 m) to Holmaskjerbu. About 3-4 hours.
Fonnabu - Rosendal (12 h)
This was the longest day. We crossed the glacier direction south. Within 30 min. we suddenly experienced a heavy snowfall and fog. We could only see the end of our skis! With GPS and compass we easily found the way out of the glacier. It was a long and heavy tour by foot down to the valley, Muradalen. Altitude difference: 1200 m. We ordered a taxi the last part down to Rosendal! Bier and sauna was a phantastic price!
