Uranostinden
This is an other remarkable 2000 m - peak in Jotunheimen and the area is very wild. This is a middle-advanced tour where a glacier has to be crossed to reach the summit.
Geography
Uranostinden is situated south-east in the Nationalpark of Jotunheimen. The closest staffed mountain lodge is Fondsbu.
How to get there
By car: From Oslo it takes about 5 drive. Take E16 to Fagernes, continue direction Bergen to Tyinkrysset. Take off to the mountain road direction Eidsbugarden. Right before Tyinstølen Hotel take a small, almost unaccesible road in to Koldedalen. Drive to the very end, here is possible for camping.
By public transport: It is not possible to get in to Koldedalen by public transport.
Loging
Natural camping. It is a good ground for setting up the tent. Drinkingwater in the river just nearby.

Duration/Time

Tour description (~6-8 hours)
The route starts by the road in Koldedalen, right by the toll (bom). Follow the marked track to "Urdadalsvatnet". After here it is only a small unmarked path up to the glacier. It is a quite steep pass to cross before you get to the glacier, but it excist a path which leads you safely up. It was a quite big lake at the end of the moraine (this is not marked at the map), so the best way to get on the glacier is by the east part of the glacier. Right equipment is required by crossing the glacier. We got out of the glacier by the north side of Uranostind (2157 m). A short and quite easy walk up to the peak. Phantastic view at the top over the spiky tops in Jotunheimen and Hurrungane.
Tip: The mountain lodge, Fondsbu, arrange guided tours to Uranostinden in the summer.
